HBO’s new series from the Duplass Brothers, Room 104, has been described as an anthology series similar in ways to Black Mirror.
Each episode of the series takes place in a singular room in a run-of-the-mill American hotel, and each episode follows the assorted characters who pass through that room.
The show features a number of actors, who each shine in their respective episodes. The trailer for the episode teases, “Every guest has a story…”

James Van Der Beek
We don’t know much about Van Der Beek’s role in Room 104 apart from a weird dance he does. Speaking of the trailer, the AV Club jokes, “this trailer is about a bunch of weird stuff happening in a motel room, but that’s actually a pretty good description for the show itself.”
Van Der Beek is known for his work as Dawson on Dawson’s Creek. He also played a fictionalized version of himself on the ABC sitcom Don’t Trust the B—.
Van Der Beek was born in Cheshire, Connecticut, and at age 15, he moved into New York City to get an agent. He got his start off-Broadway at age 16 in the show Finding the Sun at the Signature Theatre Company.
Nat Wolff
Nat Wolff, 22, is an actor, song-writer, and musician, who gained fame for his work on Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band from 2007 to 2009.
In 2011, Nat and his brother, Alex, released the album Black Sheep. He later became known for his leading role in Paper Towns with Cara Delevingne. In 2014, Nat co-starred in the film The Fault in Our Stars.
Amy Landecker
Amy Landecker is an actor known for her roles on Dan in Real Life, A Serious Man, and All is Bright. In 2014, she also began starring in Transparent as Sarah Pfefferman.
Landecker hails from Chicago, Illinois, and did not move to LA until age 38. Prior to then, she focused her career on stage work. Since early 2015, Landecker has been dating her co-star Bradley Whitford.
The actress’s other notable credits include The Hunters Prayer, Doctor Strange, Beatriz at Dinner, and Upended, among others.
Hugo Armstrong
Hugo Armstrong is an actor and producer, best known for Coherence, Nanking and Lay the Favorite.
He currently has two films in post-production: The Magnificent Room and Grace.
Davie-Blue
Davie-Blue will star alongside James Van Der Beek and Clark Duke in the August 4th episode of Room 104. The episode is titled “Pizza Boy”.
The actress and writer is perhaps best known for her work as Sunshine in Manson Family Vacation.
Jay Duplass
Jay Duplass got his start in the industry alongside his brother, Mark, for writing and directing award-winning short films.
In 2005, the brothers released their breakout feature film The Puffy Chair, which received two Independent Spirit Nominations and won the Audience Award at SXSW.
The brothers’ second feature film, Baghead, was picked up by Sony Pictures in 2008. Jay will play Daniel in “I Knew You Weren’t Dead” in Room 104.
Veronica Falcon
Veronica Falcon was born and raised in Mexico City, and has worked as an actress and choreographer for nearly 3 decades. She will play Rosa in the episode of Room 104 titled “Boris.”
In Queen of the South, Falcon plays the recurring role of Camila Vargas.
